Super absorbent polymer are growing rapidly, and the variety is increasing, and the source of raw materials is quite abundant. Since the superabsorbent polymer has a hydrophilic group on the molecular structure or a low degree of cross-linking or partial crystal structure in the chemical structure, it gives a high water absorption property and also forms some respective specialty.From the perspectives of raw material sources, structural characteristics, performance characteristics, product forms and production processes, high-absorbent resins are classified to form a variety of classification methods.
Classification by source of raw materials With the deepening of research on superabsorbent resins, the classification methods of traditional superabsorbent resins into starch series, cellulose series and synthetic resin series cannot meet the classification requirements. Therefore, Professor Zou Xinyu proposed the classification of six series based on his own research results.
Starch system: including grafted starch, carboxymethylated starch, phosphated starch, starch xanthate, etc.;
Cellulose system: including grafted cellulose, carboxymethylated cellulose, hydroxypropylated cellulose, xanthogenated fiber rope, etc.;
Synthetic polymer system: including polyacrylates, polyvinyl alcohols, polyoxyalkylenes, inorganic polymers, etc.;
Protein series: including soy protein, silk protein, gluten, etc.;
Other natural substances and their derivatives: including pectin, alginic acid, chitosan, heparin, etc.;
Blends and composites include blending of superabsorbent resins, composites of superabsorbent resins and inorganic gels, composites of superabsorbent resins and organics,etc.
